My name is Suzanne Jasmine, and I am the Director of the Career Peers Program for the 2012-2013 school year. I am originally from Concord, NC, and I am majoring in Psychology. I also have two minors, one in Spanish for the Professions and the other in Social & Economic Justice. My goals for the Career Peers Program are to expand our network within the student body in order to reach more people and to foster personal development in the Career Peers.
Hi, my name is Melissa Fluke, and I’m part of the class of 2015. I’m from Raleigh, North Carolina and, UNC is the place for me! Currently my major(s) and minor(s) are undeclared, however I do know that I plan to pursue Spanish as it is one of my passions. For the 2012-2013 school year, I am the Programs Manager for the Career Peers program. This summer I am spending 4 weeks as the Executive Assistant to the President of AEA Management Group, a firm that specializes in project management for entertainment venues nationally.
Hi everyone! My name is Linet Menachery, I’m a rising junior from Charlotte, NC majoring in Public Policy. I am very excited to be a part of the leadership team for the peers program this coming year! I’m especially looking forward to finding ways to bring target student populations into UCS, such as first year students. I’m also excited to see how UCS will be able to partner with other student organizations just like we did this past year with the reverse diverse fair!
My name is Jessica Maldonado, and I am a sophomore from Cary, NC. I am majoring in Psychology and am considering minoring in Arabic and/or Spanish. As a member of the leadership team of Career Peers for the 2012-2013 school year, I am very excited to work with the new and existing peers. I would love to see the Peers blossom into true ambassadors for UCS by reaching out to students in new and innovative ways.
My name is Cece Peters and I’m a rising junior in the business journalism program, minoring in Hispanic studies and social and economic justice. I joined Career Peers my second year, first semester as a blogger and second semester as a Peer. This year I’m excited to teach others what resources have helped me most and to learn what is most beneficial for others in their career search!
My name is Lindsay Allen, and I am a junior. I hail from a small town in North Carolina called Whitsett. I am BSBA major, with a concentration in marketing and finance. I am really excited to be a part of 2012-2013 Career Peers! I hope to help students discover possible career paths, and help students succeed in preparing for their careers.
My name is Alex Beale, and I'm from Auburn, AL. I am currently majoring in Computer Science but am also hoping to gain admittance to the Business school this coming Fall. As a 2012-2013 Career Peer, I hope to educate other UNC students about the wonderful resources UCS has to offer and learn a thing or two about my own career explorations.
Hi! My name is Emily Carr and I am a senior from the small town of Morehead City, North Carolina. I am a Business Administration major with a concentration in marketing at UNC-Chapel Hill, and I am also pursuing a minor in Public Policy. I have been an active user of UCS since my freshman year, and really enjoyed serving as a member of the UCS Student Advisory Board last year. This year, I can’t wait to get to know my fellow Career Peers and work to expand the UCS user base on campus. UCS is a great but often underutilized resource for all UNC students – I hope Career Peers can change that!
My name is Virginia Davis and I am from Asheville, NC. I am a sophomore Psychology major and Hispanic Studies minor and am so looking forward to being a Career Peer! I am most excited about interacting with students, employers and counselors to promote UCS events and services and help fellow students achieve as many career opportunities as possible!
My name is Lauren Eisdorfer. I was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and I currently live in Charlotte, North Carolina. At the University of North Carolina, I am double majoring in Business and English. Following graduation, I hope to enlist in the Peace Corps and then pursue a career in Marketing By participating in Career Peers, I look forward to improving my marketing skills in the promotion of the University Career Services.

I am a Management & Society, Economics Double Major with plans to work in the Human Resources industry when I graduate. I am very excited about the opportunity to help others as a Career Peer and I plan on using what I have learned in my coursework to benefit all who require my assistance. From resume critiques to networking tips, if you need help with anything you can definitely call on me!
My name is Whitney Haywood and I am from China Grove, North Carolina (a small town just north of Charlotte). I will be a senior at UNC this coming fall, double majoring in Psychology and Sociology. Because I plan on applying to graduate school to obtain a Master’s in Counseling Education and work in an office like Career Services at a university. I am most looking forward to helping plan and working events like Career Fairs and Networking Nights, as well as participating in practice interviews and resume sessions, because I really enjoy interacting with other students and these experiences will provide the opportunity to enhance my own professional skills as well.
My name is Ellen Lesser and I am a rising sophomore from Atlanta, Georgia. As a member of the Kenan-Flagler Assured Admission program, I will major in business. I also plan on double minoring in Spanish and English. I am really looking forward to working with an outstanding team of people in the Peers program this upcoming year and hoping to make some career discoveries and connections of my own. This summer I am staying connected to my passion for dance by working as a sales associate at a local boutique called Shapes Dance & Aerobic Wear. I really hope to include some dancing and traveling in my plans for this summer as well.
Hi, my name is Katherine McAllister and I am senior Biology major and Chemistry minor from Charlotte, NC. My current focus is on Physician Assistant (PA) School, however, I am still exploring and keeping an open mind to other pre-health careers. This will be my second year as a Career Peer and I am really excited to be able to better utilize the resources offered now that I have a career goal in mind!
My name is Ty McNeil. I was born in Greensboro, NC but I've lived as far north as Connecticut. I've spent most of my life around between Greensboro and Winston-Salem. I majoring in Communications Studies and minoring in African American Studies. I embrace every opportunity I can to network and get to know how other people got to the positions of success that they hold today, so I imagine being a Career Peer will allow me to do a lot of that as well. I also love helping people accomplish their goals.
My name is Elizabeth Monson, and I am a rising senior from Raleigh, North Carolina. I am working on a psychology major and a math minor that became a major. As a participant in Career Peers, I am looking forward to seeing new ways to present information in cover letters and resumes and making them look professional. I am also excited to have the opportunity to practice interview skills.
My name is Breeze Riley and I’ll be a sophomore this year. I hail from the tiny town of Union Bridge, Maryland. I’m public relations major with a possible second major in political science. My name is Elena Sanchez and I'm a senior, double-majoring in Public Relations and International Studies. I was born on Fort Bragg, NC but spent large chunks of my childhood in Panama and Puerto Rico. Today, my family lives in the rural town of Hope, NC. I'm excited for the Career Peers program so I can work one on one with students who need help navigating through all of the options that exist and doing campus outreach so people are aware these great resources are here.
My name is Laura Shintay and I am a rising sophomore from Charlotte, NC. Currently I plan to double major in business and psychology. As a Career Peer, I’m looking forward to marketing University Career Services to other Carolina students; the department has great resources that all Tar Heels should know about and use during their time at UNC.
My name is Osvelia Valverde and I am from Pinnacle, North Carolina which is about 20 minutes north of Winston-Salem. I am originally from Chicago, but I have lived in NC for most of my life. I am hoping to double major in Psychology and Early Education and Family Studies with a minor in Latina/o Studies. I have recently decided this and I am very excited to learn as much as I can. I was very excited to hear that I had been accepted into the Peers program, and I hope to gain a better understanding of the career world as well as all of the details that come along with it. I would also like to expand my skills and I hope to meet a lot of people!
