Dr. Christopher A. Payne has served at a variety of institutions of higher
education including Colorado State University, University of Michigan,
University of Wisconsin-Platteville, University of Northern Colorado,
University of Nebraska at Kearney, and the University of Denver. He was
appointed as the Director of Housing and Residential Education in August
2000. Since March 2005 he has served as the Associate Vice Chancellor
for Student Affairs at UNC Chapel Hill working closely with Housing and
Residential Education, Campus Health Services, Counseling and Wellness
Services, University Career Services, Information Technology, Campus Recreation,
capital construction and space needs for the Division of Student Affairs.
He graduated with a B.S. in Psychology from Colorado State University,
MS.Ed. in Counseling with an emphasis in College Student Personnel Administration
from the University of Wisconsin at Platteville, and a Ph.D. in College
Student Personnel Administration from the University of Northern Colorado.
Dr. Payne is currrently serving as Interim Director for University Career Services following the retirement of Marcia Harris.

Tim Stiles is the Associate Director and Career Counselor for undergraduate
students in Business. Mr. Stiles works with undergrad business majors
and serves as a resource for any student interested in pursuing a Master's
of Business Administration (MBA) degree. He is the coordinator of the
undergraduate First Destination Survey. He holds a Master's degree in
Counseling from the Indiana University and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting
from Indiana University. Before coming to UNC-Chapel Hill, he was Director
of Career Services at Franklin College of Indiana. He has also worked
in career services at Indiana University-Bloomington and North Carolina
State University. He was previously an accountant for Pennzoil Company
in Houston, TX.

Sackaroff

Jeff Sackaroff is the Associate Director and provides career counseling
to students in selected liberal arts majors. He is also the coordinator
of the Fall Career Expo. He holds a Master's degree in counseling from
NC State University and a BS in Psychology from the University of Tennessee.
Prior to coming to UNC-CH, he served as the Director of Undergraduate
Career Services for the College of Management at NC State University.
His background also includes experience in recruiting, human resources,
and teen counseling.

Jacquelyn M. Gist, Career Counselor and liaison to employers in Non-Profits
and Social Work, received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from
UNC-Chapel Hill. She has been with University Career Services since 1992.
Before coming to UCS, Ms. Gist worked as the Coordinator for the Inter-Faith
Council Homeless Shelter and as a Social Worker for the ARC. Ms. Gist
also serves as a member of the Town of Carrboro Board of Aldermen.

Sue Harbour is the Assistant Director for Career Exploration. She counsels
students in the career planning & exploration process. She holds a
M.S. in Counseling from California State University, Long Beach and a
B.A. in Sociology from California State University, San Bernardino. She
has worked in higher education for over twelve years. Prior to coming
to Carolina, she was a Counselor in Career Services at the University
of California, Riverside for nine years. Ms. Harbour's previous employment
includes working in Academic Advising and Student Development as well
as being an educator and counselor in the California Private education
system.

Marian C. Holmes combines a career background as a health professional
with graduate training in guidance and counseling to provide assistance
to undergraduates, graduate students and alumni in health and science
areas. She serves as liaison to employers who seek to hire graduates in
these areas as well as minority student liaison. She also coordinates
the Diversity Career Fair and the Nursing Job Fair. She received a Masters
degree from N C.Central University and an undergraduate degree from the
University of Rhode Island.

Sharon Jones is the Assistant Director for students in Technical Areas,
Information & Library Sciences, Education, and College Teaching. She
has been with UNC for 14 years and has experience with a human resources
consulting firm, the oil industry, and the military. She earned an M.S.
in Industrial Relations from Purdue University’s Graduate School
of Management. Ms. Jones is co-author of “The Parent’s
Crash Course in Career Planning: Helping Your College Student Succeed”

Laura Lane is the Career Counselor for English, Communication Studies,

English from UNC. Prior to returning to UNC, Ms. Lane worked in higher
education, in training and development, and in public relations in the
publishing industry.

Gary Miller is the internship coordinator focused on business-related
field experience for all students at UNC, regardless of their major. Prior
to coming to UNC, Mr. Miller was assistant director of the Undergraduate
Program at the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business
and was senior counselor and acting director of Academic Assistance for
Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business. He received
his M.S. degree in Social Foundations of Education from Georgia State
University and his B.S. degree in Communication from Middle Tennessee
State University.

Emily Strader has been with University Career Services since January 2005
as the Student Employment Coordinator. Her major role is to assist students

Vergie A. Taylor, the Career Planning Counselor at University Career Services,
