While the publishing industry has contracted, with the advent of electronic publishing and self-publishing, it has simultaneously been in a state of flux due to the economy. The good news is that there are still opportunities, both locally and in New York City, which has traditionally been seen as the "hub" of publishing.


Med school not for you, biology major?

Many biology students come to my office in a frantic state, because they have decided for whatever reason that they no longer want to be a doctor and they believe that they have no career options beside medicine or teaching.  Don’t get the wrong idea – careers in medicine and education are great fields to go into, however, there are other career paths that biology majors can take besides these two.


Have you considered job shadowing?

Job shadowing is a short term learning experience (day or week) which is an opportunity for students to gain exposure to an industry and/or a work setting.  To gain exposure to a career field students are encouraged to consider things to do, before, during and after a job shadowing experience!


5 things I'd change about my college experience

There’s an old saying that goes, “It’s better to regret something you have done than something you haven’t done.”  I don’t know if I fully subscribe to that theory.  However, as it relates to my undergraduate experience, there are definitely things I would change if I could travel back in time.
