As the fog clears after Christmas break, the realization you have nothing planned after this semester may have slapped you out of your food coma and into a panic. You are not alone!

University Career Services is holding an internship fair in the Great Hall of the Student Union on January 26, 2012, offering students the opportunity to talk with professionals representing around 40 companies!

My internship with the Greater Wilmington Business Journal this summer sparked my interest in business journalism and I got to know people who worked in all aspects of creating a newspaper that I had never appreciated. My editors were also able to write incredibly helpful recommendation letters at the end of the program and knew professors personally that I would need to take the classes with.

I had to be a quick learner and had a few slip ups my first couple weeks, but I had great mentors who were patient and nice enough not to yell at me when I broke the copier the first day!

The first steps I took in the internship process were to prepare my resume and research different companies and fields that I wanted to learn more about. These can be the most intimidating steps, but the sooner you get started, the better experience you can have this summer, semester or year!  So, be sure to come to the fair, if only to get yourself started!
