5 career lessons from the Carolina/Duke rivalry

Just how excited are you for tonight's game? Here at UCS, we're buzzing!  So, in the spirit of the day, here are some career lessons from the Duke/Carolina rivalty to consider!

  1. With this game, you can usually ignore past success rate as evidence of the outcome of the game.  Approach each of your job, internship and graduate school applications this way -- even if you just "lost" a round yesterday, the next one is the one that matters!
  2. It's unsual for either team to win without it being a full team effort.  So, as you pursue your own goals, don't forget you have a network -- your Tar Heel family -- to give you assistance (both on campus and off).
  3. Some things are worth getting excited about.  This game is one of them.  Your future aspirations are another.  Get excited about making it happen!
  4. The Carolina/Duke game demands all-out energy and focus of the players and coaches.  Your goals will benefit from that same level of attention.  Carolina students do amazing things when they committ themselves!
  5. Franklin Street game celebrations are a great metaphor for how you should celebrate your own successes, whether it's getting invited for an interview, making a great connection or getting that offer or acceptance. Don't forget to occasionally pat yourself on the back.

So, Go Heels -- both in the game tonight and with each of your own goals!

Love the post. I was crushed

Love the post. I was crushed with that last minute 3pt shot by Duke. I love point #1 about approaching each job situation with excitement and not thinking about the past.
