If you are a first-time visitor to our site, or if you've just never clicked on that Careerolina logo on the front page, this blog post is for you! Careerolina is your primary career tool kit here at UNC. So, let's explore it in more detail.
If you came to our website anytime before the fall 2010 semester, there was only one log-in on the front page, and that took you into what used to just simply be called "the UCS system." Now you will find that there are two log-ins on the front page:
Both log-ins will gain you access to helpful resources. But, think of Careerolina as your homebase for your job or internship search.
The first time you log into Careerolina, you will be prompted to complete a user profile. This tells the system (and, by extension, UCS and employers) who you are and what you're seeking. Once you've completed your profile, the next step is to upload a resume. Although this isn't required in order to search the postings and contact lists, it is required to be part of our Candidate Referral Service and to apply for on-campus interview postings (and some regular postings, as well). So, it's worth doing!
In addition to the postings you can find in Careerolina, you can also find an employer contact database with nearly 17,000 contacts, you can RSVP for UCS workshops and events, you can RSVP for company information sessions, you can explore an archive of around 50,000 previously-posted positions (on a tab called "expired positions"), and more.
Careerolina is one of the most important tools UCS has, and we want to make sure you know how to use all aspects of the system. So, if you have questions, feel free to come see us at a walk-in session, any weekday afternoon from 1pm until 4pm.
