Considering a career in consulting?

If you're considering a career in consulting, there are many things that you should consider doing.  But, most of them can be summed up in two words:  research and preparation.

If you've looked at the UCS event calendar, you have likely noticed that many of the earliest employer information sessions are by consulting firms (with investment banking making up the other large portion of the early arrivers).  But, in many ways, consulting is unique -- from the types of interviews commonly used to the types of skills sets and majors sought.  So, you'll benefit from doing lots of research and lots of preparation.

The majority of these information sessions are open to all students.  So, even if you're still early in your academic career, you'd benefit from going and listening.  Additionally, the Undergraduate Consulting Club here on campus is offering a "Consulting Boot Camp" event that you should consider, if you're a junior or senior.  Here are some details on that event:

Consulting Boot Camp, Friday, September 3 at 10am in McColl Hall.  Juniors and seniors only. Business casual attire is recommended.  Participating firms include Deloitte, (r)evolution, Accenture, IBM and Clarkston Consulting.  To attend, RSVP to Samantha_Deal@kenan-flagler.unc.edu by noon on September 1.
