Engage with Students

**This page is exclusively for employers, graduate, and professional schools**

University Career Services offers various career events throughout the year to facilitate connections with our students using On-Campus Recruitment (OCR) strategies. Additionally, we provide support through non-OCR strategies and initiatives including mock interviews, job shadows, career treks, Industry Snack and Chats, panels, and more, all aimed at putting organizations in front of students. All of our events are open to all UNC-CH undergraduate and graduate students, excluding MBA, Law, Medical, and Dental school candidates.

For questions about which events are suitable for your organization, please contact Jamel Mallory at [email protected] or view the this page.

Student Engagement Opportunities for your Organization

Each semester, the UCS External Relations Team provides opportunities for professionals to co-participate in activities with students during various Career Development Initiatives led by our Career Instructors. There are typically over 20 activities each semester that are hosted virtually or in person, offering the following benefits:

  • Promoting your organization's employer (or program) brand in a non-recruitment channel.
  • Supporting the career development of students seeking internships, full-time jobs, entrepreneurship, and graduate school.
  • Increasing your network with students by providing your contact/LinkedIn information.
  • Establishing, growing, and/or maintaining your organization top-of-mind with students, staff, and faculty.

Industry Snack & Chats

This "Snack and Chat" Industry Meetup series is an in-person event that will facilitate opportunities for students to drop-in for career exploration conversations or recruitment-oriented conversations. A great way to raise brand awareness and reach students about your job and internship opportunities. This is a low-pressure opportunity to answer questions and share information about your company, industry, career opportunities, etc. UCS will provide the table and room space for you to participate in this event.  We ask that companies to bring swag, table skirts, and snacks for students visiting their tables.

  • Benefits for participation:
    • Introduces you to quality of UNC students
    • Improves exposure and campus visibility with students and faculty
    • Increases your opportunity to become known as an employer of choice for UNC students
    • Maintains your presence on-campus
    • Provides career mentoring opportunities
  • Tips for successful tabling:
    • Develop “grab and go” collateral to give students to engage with you
    • Put a QR code on all of your collateral that links back to a 60-90 second video of your workplace and career advantages for college students
    • Make sure your collateral is poster card size and contains images of diverse employees on the front and back along with info on jobs and benefits.
    • Make sure that your messaging on the cards and in conversation states that your organization considers all academic majors. See this infographic for details.
    • Include the direct contact information (email, LinkedIn, etc.) of recruiters who are committed to responding to students.
    • You can find more information about tabling policies here.
