Program
There are several ways to identify minority students and
promote your organization to them for the purpose of increasing diversity.
Organizations may attend this annual event, held in early Fall, to
meet several hundred
minority students. Invitations are issued to employers who regularly
recruit on campus or upon request. Space is allocated on a first-come,
first-served basis. Please contact us at ucs@unc.edu if
interested in participating.
UCS
can obtain a list of all minority students in specific. Due to EEO
regulations we cannot provide
these names directly to you; however, we will be glad to mail your correspondence
to these students at your request. Charges for this service are the cost
of postage, labels, and duplicating fees. Please contact us at ucs@unc.edu or 919-962-4481 to discuss this service.
Advertisements may be placed in this black student publication.
“The Black Cultural Center” serves the cultural, intellectual, psychological
and sociological needs of both the Black and Non-Black community at the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as these needs relate to
the Black Experience in America.
Some outstanding minority students receive the Joseph E. Pogue Scholarship.
In addition, minority students with at least 3.0 GPA frequently are employed
as Minority Tutors/Advisors to underclassmen. Contact Office
of Student Counseling, 919-962-2143.
Ms. Marian Holmes is the UCS
liaison to minority student organizations on campus. She also coordinates
the Diversity Career Night. Please feel free to contact Ms. Holmes at
919-962-7994 or mcholmes@email.unc.edu
to discuss strategies for targeting minority students.
If you would like to arrange lunch with any of these contacts
during a campus visit, please contact our Recruiting
Coordinator, Julie Pendergraph.
