The Burch Fellows Program was established in 1993 by a gift from UNC-CH
alumnus Lucius E. Burch III. Its purpose is to recognize undergraduate
students at the University who possess extraordinary ability, promise,
and imagination. It grants up to $6000 to support self-designed off-campus
experiences that will enable them to pursue a passionate interest.
The UNC-CH Alumni Class of 1938 annually awards summer study abroad
fellowships to American students interested in pursuing independent
career or personal projects outside the United States. This is a unique
scholarship program because it provides financial assistance to students
who could not perform independent projects abroad without the support
of the Class of 1938 funding.
The C.V. Starr International Scholarships were established at UNC-Chapel
Hill in 2004 with an endowed gift from The Starr Foundation. The scholarships
provide funding on a competitive basis to undergraduate and graduate
students pursuing research or professional experience projects with
an international focus.
-
Administered by the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Scholarships
and Student Aid, this scholarship engages students in directed international
travel experiences.
UCIS supports faculty research and curriculum development, as well as
student language training, field research, and professional development.
- The Carolina Undergraduate Health Fellowship (CUHF) was established
to enable promising UNC undergraduates to create a self-designed health-related
study, anywhere in the world. The CUHF is an investment in talented
students bound for health care professions. The medical and cultural
experience of successful applicants will strengthen the future of health
care, both in the United States and globally.
- A valuable way to gain international experience is through an internship,
but often internships pay little, making them financially unappealing
to students. The Center for Global Initiatives addresses this problem
through its International Internship Award program.
On a competitive basis, we offer financial support to undergraduate
and graduate students at UNC-Chapel Hill who have secured an internationally-focused
internship. Students must secure their internship before applying for
this award.

South Asians.

The J. W. Saxe Memorial Prize is a prize of fifteen hundred dollars

given to applicants who have already found such a position, but who
require additional funds.
Applicants should send a resume together with an essay stating short
