The Career Resource
Room
is open between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. We encourage browsing,
or, if you need assistance, ask one of our staff members to help you.
A notebook catalog of available resources is available to assist you as
well as our online
catalog . The Resource Room contains resources including career-related
books, handouts, directories, periodicals, and employer literature. (If
you would like to request a specific resource to be added to the library,
please complete our Purchase
Recommendation Form.)
The materials are coded and organized
in the sections listed below to allow easy recognition and use.
Students can use information in this section to explore careers and to
research areas in which they might be interested.
This area has information about programs and organizations that offer
internships. Directories and guides provide helpful suggestions and strategies
for defining, identifying, and securing appropriate career-related internships.
Materials in this section describe the steps for a job search and give
tips on effective ways to identify skills and career areas of interest,
make contacts, prepare resumes, and present yourself in interviews. The
Sample Resume and Job Search Correspondence notebooks are located in this
area.
Directories of many kinds are available to assist job-hunters locate names,
addresses, and contact persons of employing organizations.
Materials here provide information about organizations in specific career
areas.
This section includes resources such as the National Zip Code directories,
a dictionary, a thesaurus, purpose etiquette books and many others.
