UCS Resource Room

The UCS Resource Room is open between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday. We encourage browsing, or, if you need assistance, ask one of our staff members to help you.

The UCS Resource Room has seven computers, a printer and copier available to assist with your career activities.  The heart of the Resource Room is the more than 1500 career-related books, handouts, directories, periodicals, and employer literature. They are organized in the categories below, and a .pdf document that lists them all is available on the right.

C - Exploring Careers
Students can use information in this section to explore careers and to research areas in which they might be interested.

I - Internship Information
This area has information about programs and organizations that offer internships. Directories and guides provide helpful suggestions and strategies for defining, identifying, and securing appropriate career-related internships.

J - Job Seeking
Materials in this section describe the steps for a job search and give tips on effective ways to identify skills and career areas of interest, make contacts, prepare resumes, and present yourself in interviews. The Sample Resume and Job Search Correspondence notebooks are located in this area.

D - Directories
Directories of many kinds are available to assist job-hunters locate names, addresses, and contact persons of employing organizations.

G - Career Area Guides
Materials here provide information about organizations in specific career areas.
