Ms. Resa Brinkley joined University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill’s University Career Services as the Health Professions Advising Coordinator in September of 2013. With over 17 years of student affairs experience, Ms. Brinkley previously worked for the University of Georgia Premedical Studies Program, and has been actively involved in all aspects of an established health professions advising office. Prior to that, she began her career with the University of Georgia School of Law’s Department of Student Affairs & Registrar, counseling students on their day to day needs, both academic and extracurricular. She earned her master’s degree in public administration with a higher education focus and her bachelor’s degree in journalism, both from The University of Georgia.
As the Health Professions Advising Coordinator here at UNC-Chapel Hill, Ms. Brinkley works with students applying for and seeking admission into variety of health-related programs, such as medicine (both allopathic and osteopathic), nursing, dentistry, podiatry, pharmacy, optometry, physician assistant, physical therapy, occupational therapy, chiropracty, and veterinary. In addition, she coordinates health professions-related workshops, panel presentations, networking events and information fairs for every step and facet of the process. She also maintains a variety of online resources, including the program website and listserv.
In her free time (what little there is), Resa is an avid runner, an enthusiastic chef, an ardent reader, and a vocal supporter for animal rescue (particularly her own shelter mutt), yet still finds time for her husband, bad television, and college football. She’s an SEC girl living in this ACC town, but is falling in love with Chapel Hill and the Carolina Way.
