Career, Graduate Education, and Networking Events

**ATTENTION: Make sure you explore this comprehensive list of employers and graduate schools actively recruiting Tar Heels!**

We understand that students have various commitments both on and off-campus, making it potentially challenging to participate in recruitment activities hosted by University Career Services. Our goal is to foster events that meet students where they are. Therefore, we are promoting five engagement options, enabling students to choose the method that suits them best for initial interactions with recruiters. We have communicated with recruiters to ensure they do not favor one modality over another. Tar Heel students can rest assured that there is no penalty to their applications based on their chosen form of engagement. At University Career Services, we've got students covered! Our facilitated recruitment events offer five ways to connect:

  1. Face-to-Face Interaction: Connect with employers in person at on-campus fairs.
  2. Virtual Fair Sessions on Handshake: Engage in 1:1 or group sessions scheduled on Handshake Virtual Platforms with employers interested in discussing their organizations, workplaces, or job postings.
  3. Virtual Chats on Handshake: Have virtual conversations with employers who want to discuss specific job postings. Make sure to check for Handshake's 15-minute virtual chat scheduling tool on each job posting four weeks before the on-campus event. (Alternatively, if an employer's contact information is available on their Handshake company page, you can schedule a 15-minute virtual chat outside of Handshake.)
  4. Direct Messaging on Handshake: Communicate directly with employers interested in discussing job postings using Handshake's messaging tool. Ensure this feature is set up on each job posting four weeks before the on-campus event. (Alternatively, if an employer's contact information is available on their Handshake company page, you can initiate a conversation outside of Handshake.)
  5. Application Process on Handshake: All available job opportunities from employers should be posted on Handshake four weeks before the on-campus event to facilitate direct applications.
