The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Wells Fargo

In December 2024, Wells Fargo’s Early Careers unit approached UNC Career Center with the idea of hosting an on-campus event introducing Tar Heel students to the bank’s mission, job opportunities, and professional development programs. This is the kind of request that the Career Center receives dozens of times each semester.

Jasmine Moorman, Assistant Director of Employment Engagement at UNC Career Center, in true Tar Heel fashion, took the ball and ran with it. Understanding that today’s students crave authentic experiences and more in-depth connections to their work, she leaned into the bank’s early careers slogan, “Discover we’re more than just a bank” and sought out campus partners who would help bring a student perspective to the event. Jasmine engaged the Women in Economics and the Carolina Economics Club. Together, they thought of ways to encourage more in-depth conversations between Carolina students and Wells Fargo recruiters. No casually picking up a brochure or pen at this event.

In Spring 2025, “Early Career Day with Wells Fargo” took place, centered around a speed networking format. Students rotated between company recruiters, focused on different aspects of working for Wells Fargo.

The 1:1 engagement resulted in the event being one of the most successful single-employer events planned by UNC Career Center to date.

“I couldn’t imagine a better or more fluid, collaborative effort, and I am eagerly anticipating our continued partnership for the upcoming season.”
