Career Peers

Career Peers play a fundamental role in our office. They provide peer-to-peer support in the areas of resumes, cover letters and LinkedIn profiles. Our Peers are here to help you during the fall and spring either during drop-in hours or appointments. Drop-ins are 15-20 minute conversations while appointments are 30 or 45 minutes. Scroll the page to read their bios and schedule an appointment!

Khamiah Alderman

Khamiah (Kuh-me-uh) Alderman

Class: Senior
Major(s): Public Policy
Hometown: Charlotte, NC
Career Goals: I aspire to work in the Non-profit sector as well as change education policy in states that have prominent racial achievement gaps.
Favorite Carolina Moment: Going to a basketball game with my friends.

The main reason why I wanted to become a Career Peer is because I enjoy helping others. Career Services has many resources and opportunities that many students are not aware of, and I wanted to be the one to help guide students to those resources. To also add, I enjoy meeting new people and creating relationships, and I believe being a Career Peer will do just that.

Sherrod Crum

Sherrod (Shur-rod) Crum

Class: Senior
Major(s): Business Administration (Social & Economic Justice Minor)
Hometown: Atlanta, GA
Career Goals: I ultimately want to pursue career paths that will positively impact underrepresented communities. From consulting to social entrepreneurship, I want to utilize my professional experiences to progress the financial, intellectual, and mental wellness of others.
Favorite Carolina Moment: I have had a lot of incredible moments here at Carolina, but I would say receiving the Harvey Beech Scholarship this past year takes the cake. Being associated with the first Black student at UNC who paved the way for individuals who look like me is an honor that I will never take for granted.

My name is Sherrod (Shur-rod), and I am a sophomore Business Major, Social & Economic Justice Minor, and Honors student at UNC. Throughout my time here at UNC, I have been heavily involved in the entrepreneurship community, and was selected as a Bryan Fellowship Recipient, Kenan-Biddle Partnership Recipient, and was selected to the inaugural Eship Scholar Cohort with the Kenan-Flagler Business School. Also, I Co-Founded and currently serve as the President of The Black Entrepreneur Initiative here at UNC. In my professional career, I have had experience with the recruiting process and was able to secure offers from both Ernest & Young and The Boston Consulting Group. As a career peer, I want to bridge the access gap to career readiness resources for underrepresented communities on Carolina's campus and be a resource for as many students as I can. In my free time, I love to cheer on my New Orleans Saints, hangout with friends, and exercise in the gym.
