Engage with Students

Our office provides a variety of opportunities for employers and alumni to engage with Carolina students. Perhaps you are looking for ways to help students in their career development or to participate in soft recruitment methods for increased branding. These non-On Campus Recruitment (OCR) initiatives include as mock interviews, job shadows, career treks, panels, and more. These events are open to all UNC-CH undergraduate and graduate students.

Student Engagement Opportunities

Student Organizations & Clubs

At UNC Chapel Hill, employers and alumni can connect with over 800 student organizations for career exploration, development, and recruitment. These connections help prepare students for the workforce and expand their professional networks. The Heel Life database allows users to browse active student organizations, tailored by category, to find potential connections. Our office helps facilitate interactions between student orgs and employers, including on-campus events, internships, and mentorship programs.

Career Treks

Career Treks are company site visits that provide an opportunity for students to explore industries and job functions, while growing their professional network for future career opportunities. Students can learn about entry-level roles within a company, network with recruiters and alumni, explore company facilities of all industries and sizes, and uncover what next steps they should take in their career preparation journey.

    Mock Interview Program

Engage in mock interviews with UNC students to provide constructive feedback. These sessions gather employers from various industries and sizes to simulate interviews with students, where you'll pose standard questions and offer valuable feedback for their future improvement. Your interview room will be located at Hanes Hall in the UCS office.

    Case Competition

Every semester, University Career Services hosts a dynamic Case Competition, and we are actively seeking employer partners to participate. This is a prime opportunity to engage with talented students, showcase your brand, and contribute to their educational experience. The business case topic can be on any subject, if it is accessible to all majors.

    Volunteering Opportunities

Whether you are passionate about helping students grow in their career readiness or looking for ways to give back to your alma mater, we invite you to volunteer for our pre-career fair and career-building activities. Your knowledge, skills, abilities, experiences, and insights are a valuable part of the process to enhance the employability and professionalism of our student population. This includes the following:

    • Resume reviews

    • Job Shadowing
