Parker Dewey Micro-Internship Application Tips

Looking to land a micro internship? These tips will help you create a strong application and stand out to employers.

What You Should Do:

  • Apply to anything that interests you!
  • Prioritize positions with a website or social media link – it’s a great way to learn more about the company and strengthen your application. These are usually listed under the “connect online” section when you click on the position’s details.
  • Keep your experience descriptions concise but meaningful. Keeping them to a few sentences is enough. You can include class projects, volunteer work, campus involvement or anything else that showcases your skills.
  • Highlight your strengths by identifying 1-2 things you’re particularly good at and make sure they shine on your application. If you feel unsure about your strengths or interests, take one of our Career and Major Assessments.
  • Customize your answers for each position by tailoring your responses to the position you’re applying for. Some applications may ask similar questions, so you may just need to make small tweaks to your responses.
  • Don’t be afraid to connect with a recruiter. This can make a big difference. You can find their information on LinkedIn or on the company’s Handshake page.
  • Read the project description so you can understand details such as project duties, timeframe, and location.
  • Make sure to do research on the company you’re applying to, especially on their mission, values, and what they do. This helps show genuine interest in your application.
  • Show your enthusiasm by letting the company know why you’re excited about the opportunity and how your goals align with theirs.
