Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation Nonprofit Internship Program

The Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation has a nonprofit internship program with a February 15th deadline that may be of interest to you.  To be eligible you must be a Pell Grant recipient.  But, the list of participating organizations is impressive! Opportunities are available at around 40 organizations (including some here at UNC) and range in functional areas from social media marketing to homelessness outreach to public policy research and beyond.  The full list and application information is available at their site.

GPA under 3.0?

Ok, so your GPA is less than a 3.0. But don’t assume that a lower GPA can completely lock you out of the job market. There are things that can be done to highlight your skills, and  if done correctly, you can often outshine a student with a higher GPA. Here are a few things you can do to make yourself marketable if you have below a 3.0.

Internship hiring is up 7%

Employers expect to hire 7 percent more interns for 2010-11 than they hired in 2009-10, according to results of NACE's latest internship survey.  Ninety-three percent of employers responding to the NACE 2011 Internship & Co-op Survey reported plans to hire interns.
